Pelvic floor muscle strength is part of our body's stability system, therefore if there is a weakness in the pelvic floor it could lead to back pain and pelvic instability.
The pelvic floor can become weak for many reasons, it's not all about having a baby! These are some of the reasons that pelvic floor strength can become a problem - pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, high impact exercise, long distance running, any inactivity that repeatedly increases your intra-abdominal pressure and poor posture.
A poor diet can worsen the effect of all of the above list which is why nutrition is part of the Holistic Core Restore programme.
An ongoing weakness in the pelvic floor can lead to urinary and faecal incontinence which left unmanaged could ultimately develop into a pelvic organ prolapse.
If you suffer leaking with laughing, coughing or sneezing or avoid activity because of a leak or potential leak then Holistic Core Restore is for you.
The programme starts with the completion of an in depth pelvic health questionnaire. This allows me to taileranything specific for your needs and also to ensure that the programme is right for you.
Holistic Core Restore can help you if - you are pregnant. The exercise will help to activate your core and pelvic floor and give your back and pelvis more stability as your baby grows. - You are in your post natal period at any point (and however long afterwards!). From the initial post natal period to many years afterwards this exercise programme will address your weakness and restore muscle control. - You are perimenopausal or into your menopause. Hormanal changes during this period can affect the the strength of your pelvic floor and its ability to function well for you. Specific exercises can help restore this for you. - You have had gynaecological surgery or a hysterectomy and you have been advised by your surgeon or GP to carry out pelvic floor exercises. Kegels are a good starting point but Holistic Core Restore is a functional programme that incorporates movement which is when your pelvic floor is required to work on a day to day basis.
